"Life's a beach" exhibits an array of oil paintings featuring the Australian coastline. As a metaphor for life, each beach is in a state of continuous change with interaction between the elements and the tide, displaying the results of eons of exposure to nature. The result is a beguiling, colourful, exciting yet mysterious quality which draws us humans to ponder its beauty. Having observed beaches from a career on the seas and now in retirement, from a distance, the lure of the beach as a painting subject is irresistible. I hope this exhibition instils the viewer with my joy and exhilaration in bringing the ocean to canvas.
